More and more keeps turning up about PPC affiliates and their methodologies of getting traffic - not looking for it at all, there are far better ways to spend time. It just seems to come up in the normal course of checking results for keyword searches at the search engines.
Today’s was found while checking at Yahoo, and finding a site with what would “normally” be the page tucked away in an iframe, apparently a related site, with the rest of the page being PPC links. That led to a couple of searches to look into things further, including a search at Google for Google + iframes (even though it was at Yahoo).
Looking around led to coming across this interesting forum discussion involving Revenue Pilot.
I’m inclined to think that the page I found at Yahoo gives the appearance of being cloaked, which is the first thing that comes to mind when a page isn’t cached - not anything evidential in itself, but if other signals are there it’s a clue that sort of adds on to the assumption. The site in question (nothing to do with the forum find) is not in the index at Google; apparently the domain is specifically intended for Yahoo, or maybe just hasn’t been indexed yet.
Just another addition to the collection, including what turns out to be verification of one of the suspected means.
